Coming Home to Yourself. An Introduction to Spirituality through the Enneagram

Coming Home to Yourself. An Introduction to Spirituality through the Enneagram

What is Spirituality?

There are many different interpretations of what spirituality is. Put simply, it is the awakening of our own Essential Nature. It is our authentic, or true self beyond our mask or ego.  When we are there, we experience love, compassion, joy and equanimity.

We also recognise that there is a creative energy within us, surrounding us and which connects us. Some call this energy Universal Energy, a Higher Power, Christ Consciousness, Buddha Consciousness, or God, to name a few.

These workshops will introduce you to a system that will guide you into discovering your own unique personality style and your strengths and gifts. It will reveal what keeps you trapped in reactivity and unconscious repetitive patterns and how to become free from them. You will also gain insight into why other people do what they do!

As the awareness of your true self grows, you will find spiritual insights, intuition, creativity, unbounded imagination and freedom of choice. You will find the solution to problems because problems come from a contracted state of awareness where you’re feeling fearful or separate. Solutions come from an expanded sense of awareness, when you’re connected to others and the web of life. This is the beginning of spirituality.

You will experience a feeling of Coming Home to Yourself as you gradually peel back the layers of your inauthentic self and recognise your Essential Nature and the Spirit of who you truly are.

Strengthen Your Relationships

Strengthen Your Relationships

All relationships require understanding to flourish. Gaining insight into why we do what we do helps build confidence in ourselves and more acceptance and understanding of others. This applies to partners, parents, children and all our relationships.

You may be in a stable and happy relationship yet would like to enrich your lives together by discovering what motivates each of you to behave in certain ways, particularly under stress.  It’s also encouraging to recognise what special strengths and gifts you bring to your relationship.

Developing a healthy relationship involves asking several questions:

Why do I do what I do and seem to have little control over it?

Are there personality traits in my partner that irritate me?

When these traits appear how do I respond to them?
Am I the type of person who:

·   avoids conflict

·   withdraws?

·   lashes out?

·   feels responsible for my partner’s happiness?

·   goes along with things?

·   just gives in?

These are learned behaviours that are a part of you, and your partner. With awareness and understanding, you can learn how to respond positively in your relationship, without just reacting.

Cost: $85 pp   Registration by Friday 30 September

Financial assistance available. Please contact marg@margaretloftus.com

Contemplative Circles

Contemplative Circle: Reflecting on our Inner Life (drawing on Parker Palmer’s bestseller, A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey toward the Undivided Life) is a place to explore one’s inner life with others through readings, poems, symbols, story and conversation.

“The underlying foundation for a circle of trust is that we trust the inner teacher, the inner light
of another person to guide them from within. Guidance cannot come from outside of a person. So the group must hold you faithfully in a space where you can listen to your inner teacher.”
~ Parker J. Palmer

“Before I can tell my life what I want to do with it, I must listen to my life telling me who I am.”     ~ Parker J. Palmer

Drawn from ancient and contemporary wisdom, it is a deeply spiritual approach to identifying our ‘inner landscape’.

Throughout the year our outer landscape, such as ocean, mountain, desert, forest and the seasons will be used as metaphors and images of our inner life.

Parker Palmer is an author, educator and activist who focuses on issues in education, community, leadership, spirituality and social change.  He has developed a unique approach to exploring the inner life through poetry, story, symbol, the seasons, nature & sacred presence. As a Quaker, he has explored the power of both silence and action within life. His book A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey toward the Undivided Life has become a groundbreaking bestseller and a guide to those wanting a fuller and richer life.

The Circle of Trust encourages participants to appreciate silence; practice the art of listening; see the importance of paradox; the value of our sense of vocation (secular and religious); and appreciate the rhythms of life.

Working with the Shadow Part 2

“The shadow is that part of us we fail to see or know.” Robert Johnson

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

Carl Jung

The Enneagram is a tool for transformation and gives us a map for human purpose and possibility. It lays out a modern-day, personalized path to wholeness for each of us. It also helps cultivate a deeper sense of compassion for those around you — and for yourself.

Its ancient wisdom also illuminates our gifts and provides a framework for our personal and spiritual growth.  It also reveals how we’re often held back by the shadow side of our personality — our own deeply rooted, unconscious patterns that are hard for us to see.

This two-part online workshop will help us delve deeply into the shadow sides of your Enneagram type, unveiling the mysteries of who you are and gaining a roadmap to living a more harmonious, fulfilling, soul-led life — even in these difficult times.

The workshops continue on from the Introduction to Shadow work earlier in the year. It is also suitable for those who have not done the introduction.

Wednesday 13 October. 9.30 – 12.00    and  Tuesday 21 October 9.30 – 12.00

Know Yourself and Understand Others Through the Enneagram

This weekend workshop is for those who are ready to find a way to grow and transform.

It’s for those who may have been wanting to create new empowering behaviours, but have been struggling to break through. Or for those who know they’re ready and want to expand on their current growth to realise their essential inner qualities and move closer to their True Self.

This introduction to the Enneagram is a map to knowing yourself better and understanding others. You will learn:

  • How to respond rather than react

  • Why you behave the way you do

  • Why others behave the way they do

  • Why you may struggle with overcoming certain behaviours, such as procrastination, poor eating habits, getting angry or struggling to make decisions

  • Why some people have a drive for perfection, achievement or success and why some people tend to withdraw, become intrusive or always question you

  • How to understand your core instinctive drivers so you can utilise them to empower your actions

Your facilitator for this weekend event is transformational coach Margaret Loftus, co-author of Knowing Me, Knowing Them: Understanding your parenting personality by discovering the Enneagram. Margaret is an experienced facilitator of learning with the Enneagram and is trained and accredited in the Narrative Tradition, as well as the Enneagram In Business.

Co-facilitating with Margaret will be Sean Nicholas O’Leary, a certified Organisational & Executive coach, host of The Transformed Man Show podcast and facilitator of Success Without Stress workshops. Sean has been working with and learning with the Enneagram for the past 6 years.

Join them for this two-day introductory workshop in Melbourne at the tranquil setting of SWELL (Spirituality and Wellbeing Centre) in Hawthorn, a place perfect for this type of learning. The workshop will run from 9am-4pm each day and is spread over 2 days so you have time to absorb and reflect on the deeper transformative learning you will encounter.

Very limited places are available for this workshop as the group is kept to a level where each participant gets to be fully involved and immersed in the learning. So if you’re ready to explore this transformative tool then book your place now.

  • Discover 9 different lenses that people see the world through and how that influences their behaviour.

  • How you can enhance the gifts of your personality.

Typing in the Sacred Space with Ginger Lapid-Bogda

  • Habitat Uniting Church (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Typing is part science, part art, and involves many factors or variables. Multiple data points are useful to consider, but none of them alone are sufficient. This is true if you are an Enneagram teacher or if you are the person trying to identify your type. This workshop is for both those newer to the Enneagram and those more experienced, and will provide experiential processes to help demystify typing.
